What does sugar mean to you part 5

How much sugar is actually in what you are eating everyday? As I always say to my clients it is not the one off desert or slice of birthday cake which does the damage it is the foods you eat and drink everyday. It is important that you start to read food labels as I have said last week, so on the label you will see the nutrient content, you will see protein, fat, carbohydrate etc under the carbohydrate section read how much of the carbohydrate is of sugars per item/per 100g etc so it will read “of which sugars 26g per 100g etc. So if you eat the full 100g of that product you will have consumed 6.5 teaspoons of sugar. 1 teaspoon of sugar = 4g. [Read more...]

Feeling Anxious part 4 of 4

Magnesium: Magnesium is more often than not very important as a nutritional supplement to be taken at times of high anxiety and stress. Magnesium is an essential mineral. Of the approximate 26g found in the average size body approximately 70% of that amount is found in the bones along with calcium, phosphor and many other minerals . (Therefore it is crucial for reversing osteopenia and promoting good bone health.) Approx. 30 % is found in the cells and the rest in soft tissue. Vitamin D is necessary for the proper utilisation of magnesium, while magnesium helps to promote the absorption and metabolism of other minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, [Read more...]

Feeling Anxious part 3 of 4

Part 3 of 4 One of the most practical things you can do to help yourself with stress and anxiety is to nourish your cells. They depend on you to look after them so they in turn can do their job for you and keep you healthy and happy. While the key to beating stress is to discover its cause and find ways of reducing or living with this source, regular good nutrition helps the body to cope with at least some of its negative effects. Eat very well, regular meals and preferably home cooked so as to avoid nasty preservatives, additives, sweeteners etc which burden the liver, digestive system and adrenals. The better your food intake the more nutrients [Read more...]

Tired, Cranky and Moody?

Is this you? Tired , Cranky and moody? You may be suffering from Adrenal fatigue…Low blood sugars/hypoglycaemia or imbalanced stress hormones. One of the main roles of the hormones cortisol and insulin in your body is to control your blood sugars levels and a sense of balance about your health and body. Your blood sugar level has to be kept fine tuned and at a certain level to maintain ideal energy and health. When your adrenal glands are tired and fatigued the cortisol levels can drop lower than the normal. This means the body has to work harder to control the blood sugar balance. One of the main symptoms of adrenal fatigue or hypo-adrenia [Read more...]

How are you treating your body?

How are you Treating/Mis-treating IT? What is it? ‘It’ to many is their description of their precious human body.. ‘IT’ usually refers to an object or item of some form or other.
